Ghaziabad: Two men accused of robberies in Bhojpur were arrested on Sunday after their identities were established from CCTV footages. The accused have been identified as Sonu (27) and Bittu (26), who belong to Hapur and Meerut districts, respectively.
In the first crime that had taken place on June 4, five men had robbed Rs 1.24 lakh in cash from a person who had withdrawn it from a branch of Syndicate Bank in Bhojpur. The second robbery had taken place on June 21 when three men had snatched a mobile phone and earrings from a woman in Bhojpur after shooting her husband in the leg when he resisted.
“We have recovered Rs 48,000 cash from the two accused which they had robbed from the bank customer. We identified the accused from CCTV cameras at the bank. One of their accomplices, Manish, has already surrendered in a court in a separate case,” said Ghaziabad SSP Vaibhav Krishna.
The two other accused have been identified by police as Jeetendra, Manish and Munnawar. All five have criminal cases pending against them in various police stations of western UP. According to police, the men had met each other in a jail in Meerut last month following which they had been conducting robberies together.
