Captains blank Lugnuts, 6-0

Francisco Perez and three relievers completed on a five-hit shutout in the Captains’ 6-0 victory over Lansing on June 25.

Perez (5-4) pitched 6 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking two.

Jonathan Teaney, Tommy DeJuneas and Kyle Nelson struck out a combined six batters and allowed one hit the rest of the way.

Left fielder Oscar Gonzalez hit his 11th home run of the season for the Captains (31-44). He has 36 RBI. Second baseman Jesse Berardi was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

The series in Lansing continues at 7:05 p.m., June 26.
