A woman was critically injured Monday after she was hit by an SUV in Orange City and dragged for several feet, a Florida Highway Patrol official said.
Charges are pending against the driver of the Lincoln Navigator, a man in his 70s, who also struck multiple vehicles and shopping carts in front of the Bravo Supermarket near Enterprise Road and South Volusia Avenue, Lt. Kim Montes said.
After putting his groceries away, the man, whose identity hasn't yet been released, accidentally put the SUV in reverse and struck a parked car, Montes said.
The man then put the vehicle in drive and struck four parked cars, shopping carts and the woman, who was dragged 15 to 20 feet, Montes said.
The woman, whose identity hasn't been released pending notification of next of kin, was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Montes said. No one else was injured.
