OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Climate experts believe the upcoming monsoon season in the nation's Southwest could be wetter than normal, but even an exceptionally wet season is unlikely to lift the region's annual rainfall to average levels. Forecasters said Monday sparse rainfall since autumn has caused drought conditions to worsen, especially in the Four Corners region of Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. The U.S. Drought Monitor says moderate to extreme drought also persists in parts of Oklahoma and Texas.

DURANT, Okla. (AP) - Attempts to recover the body of a truck driver and the tractor-trailer he was driving from a lake on the Oklahoma-Texas line continues after a collision that killed another driver. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Eric Cannaday said Monday that divers attached flotation devices and a tow line to the truck, which careened through a guard rail into Lake Texoma following a collision with a car Thursday. Troopers say the driver of the car died in the crash. The driver of the truck is presumed dead.

HOLDENVILLE, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say a man was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting outside a grocery store in southeastern Oklahoma. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says 36-year-old Johnathan Merriman was killed in the shooting Sunday afternoon in Holdenville, about 110 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. No arrests have been announced.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma election officials say nearly twice as many Republicans and Democrats are voting early in this year's primary elections compared to four years ago, and enthusiasm is particularly high among Democrats. Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said about 31,000 Democrats voted early ahead of Tuesday's elections. That's more than twice the 14,100 who voted early in 2014. Oklahoma's open governor's seat and a state question on medical marijuana are expected to drive turnout Tuesday.
