POKHARA: A police search is underway for a senior government official who went missing on Saturday.

Senior Officer at Lekhnath Municipality, Pokhara, Om Raj Paudel has gone missing since Saturday morning after leaving a note behind.

Police said, Poudel has written that he had failed his family, in a note, he wrote before walking out.

Meanwhile, a rescue team has been running a search operation along the banks of Seti river, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rabindra Gurung said.

The rescue team is searching for Poudel along the banks of the river after a local reported seeing a man jump off from Mahendra Bridge at around 5:30 am on Saturday.

Following Poudel’s disappearance, the local employee union has accused municipality chief and other political organisations of torturing Paudel to this extent.

According to a statement issued by the union, the management of municipality framed and tortured employees including Poudel who thought differently.

City Mayor, Mann Bahadur Gc has also issued a statement requesting authorities to assist in search operations.
