A 74-year-old Erin woman has been charged with failing to properly secure a toddler after she put her granddaughter in the trunk of her car.
Wellington County OPP received a tip Friday that a woman attending an event on Main Street in the town of Erin, northwest of Guelph, had placed a toddler in the truck of her car before driving away.
According to an OPP statement, police arrived on the scene after the woman had left, but were able to track her down later in the day.
The child was returned to her parents without injuries and police say Family and Children's Services are investigating.
To protect the identity of the child, police are not releasing the name of the woman who was charged.
