An 11-year-old boy died after being struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Clyde Morris Boulevard, an official said Monday.

Arion Walker succumbed Saturday night to injuries he suffered shortly before 9 p.m. when he was hit near Mason Avenue and Clyde Morris, Lyda Longa, Daytona Beach police spokeswoman, said.

The boy and two other children were walking west in the crosswalk on Mason when Arion was struck by a vehicle which was headed south on Clyde Morris, police said.

Witnesses told police that Connor Zessin, the driver of the car, had a green light at the time of the crash.

Zessin, 27, stayed at the scene, and police don't expect to file charges.

Arion underwent surgery at Halifax Health Medical Center following the crash, police said.
