Old files and bill payment records reportedly damaged

Unidentified persons set ablaze a wooden almirah and other furniture at the sub-division office of the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TSNPDCL) in Charla town of Bhadrachalam division in the wee hours of Monday.

Old files pertaining to service matters and previous bill payment records were reportedly damaged in the incident. The incident had left the TSNPDCL staff baffled.

High security zone

It has caused a flutter in the heart of the mandal headquarters town of Charla which is considered as high security zone in the left-wing extremism affected Bhadrachalam division.

Miscreants seems to have gained entry into the sub-division office situated next to several other government offices probably in the wee hours of the day, sources said. The almirah that was set on fire was completely gutted.

Two computer monitors kept on the table were partially damaged.

Fire averted

A major fire accident was averted as the flames subsided leaving the windows and doors of the office building unaffected.

The incident was first noticed by the office sweeper who arrived at the building at about 7 am. He immediately alerted his higher ups about the incident.

The local police inspected the incident site and collected fingerprints from the spot.

The Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited sources attributed the incident to the handiwork of miscreants.

They maintained that the data stored in the hard drives of two computers at the office remained intact.
