West Indies fight back on rain-hit second day

After Lahiru Kumara finished with four for 58 to dismiss West Indies for just 204 in the first innings of the day-night third Test, the Windies bowlers got into the act.

Two wickets each for Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel, and one for captain Jason Holder, who also top-scored with 74, meant that the Sri Lankans found themselves 99 for five at the end of a rain-hit second day in which only 59 overs were possible.

Colombia claw their way back

As both Poland and Colombia lost their opening encounters in this World Cup and as Senegal and Japan had played out a thrilling 2-2 draw earlier on Sunday, it was clear that the loser would be out of the reckoning.

Colombia stayed alive in the tournament as goals from Yerry Mina, Radamel Falcao and Juan Cuadrado made Poland the first European team to be knocked out of the event.

In the day’s other game, England recorded their biggest WC victory, thumping six goals past Panama in their 6-1 win. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick, John Stones had a brace and Jesse Lingard scored the other goal.
