Valsad received 210mm of rains in just four hours
The heavy downpour resulted in flooding in areas like Chipwad, Tower, Mograwadi, Auranga bridge, Tithal road and administration feared the worst as it was on a high-tide day.
“However, not much water was thrown back by the high tide in the sea and as the rains stopped by 12.30pm , water started ebbing fast. More so, with no much rains in the upstream of Auranga river which is in Dharampur Taluka, the issue of major flooding is ruled out,” said Valsad collector SB Kharsan .
Along with Valsad, adjacent talukas of Chikhli and Khergam too recorded 128mm and 95mm of rains respectively.
Traffic on Mumbai-Ahmedabad railway line was disrupted due to a wash out near Sanjan and Bhilad.
The railway traffic resumed after 9am.
