Alberta man facing charges after woman hit multiple times with knife and axe, police say

A man is facing charges after police say a woman was struck multiple times with a knife and axe in an assault in Siksika that sent her to hospital on Sunday.

A man is facing charges after a woman was struck multiple times with a knife and axe in an assault in Siksika that sent her to hospital on Sunday, police say.

"The suspect was identified by the RCMP but had already fled the area in a stolen vehicle," Gleichen Mounties said in a Monday release.

He was located by police in Calgary, where he was arrested for outstanding arrest warrants out of Saskatchewan as well as the incident in Siksika, police said. 

Clark Manybears, 54, is facing numerous charges and remains in custody. He's scheduled to appear in a Siksika courtroom on Thursday.

The 53-year-old woman has been released from hospital.
