Odisha man booked on rape charges

The accused had developed physical relationship with the woman belonging to Sorai village within Jenapur police limits in the district and later refused to marry her.

JAIPUR: A 28-year-old man was booked for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman on the pretext of marriage. The accused had developed physical relationship with the woman belonging to Sorai village within Jenapur police limits in the district and later refused to marry her.

Police registered a case against the accused, Prakash Kumar Sahoo alias Banku of the same village. The accused fled from the village soon after the complaint was filed against him with the police.
Banku entered into a relationship with her two years ago. On several occasions, he had apparently promised to marry the her.

Police said the woman and the accused used to live in the same village. On Friday, she came to know that the accused was trying to marry another girl. “The woman, then, went to Banku’s house and asked him to marry her. But he  refused to do so,” police said.
