Coimbatore: Father of a job seeker, who was cheated by a conman in 2014, on Monday approached the city police seeking action against him.
In his compliant to police superintendent Pa Moorthy, MS Krishnasamy of Bommanampalayam near Vadavalli said that he had approached Eswar Ramchandran of Balaji Nagar near Bharathiar University and Kumarasivam, an astrologer, to get a government job for his son Vedhasubramaniam. “Eswar Ramchandran introduced himself as an IRS officer working in the central excise department. He promised to get a job in the same department for my son and demanded Rs 15 lakh. He showed me photographs of him with the Prime Minister, Tamil Nadu chief minister and governor. He also showed me appointment letters to earn my trust. So, I gave him Rs 11 lakh,” Krishnasamy’s petition said.

Later, Eswar Ramchandran gave him an appointment letter carrying Vedhasubramaniam’s name and an identity card. “He told my son that he would get six months training at the ‘central excise intelligence office at Olympus in Ramanathapuram’ and would be paid a stipend of Rs 27,760 per month. Ramchandran conducted classes for Vedhasubramaniam in the building for six months and the amount was credited to my son’s account for six months. Meanwhile, as the news spread in the neighbourhood, some of my neighbours gave Rs 22lakh to Eswar Ramchandran and Kumarasivam to get jobs for their wards. He gave fake identity cards and appointment letters to them and soon absconded,” the petition said.

Vedhasubramaniam, who approached the central excise department, realised that he was cheated. “We were waiting for the last three-and-a-half years to get back our money from Eswar Ramchandran . Meanwhile we came to know that the conman and the astrologer had cheated many youths. We request the police to take appropriate action against the duo,” the petition added. TNN
