New Ambassadors to Japan, China

Morteza Rahmani-Movahed and Abdolnaser Hemmati have been appointed ambassadors to Japan and China respectively. Proposed by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, President Hassan Rouhani approved the appointments to the two East Asian countries, Mehr News Agency reported. Rahmani-Movahed has studied international law and was advisor to the foreign minister. He also served as deputy director at Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, Iran’s ambassador to New Zealand and Iran’s Consulate General in Shanghai. Hemmati has a PhD in economics and is faculty member at Tehran University. He previously served as president of Central Insurance company of Iran and CEO of Bank Melli.
