An argument between a Palm Coast couple this weekend ended with one woman being shot in the ear and her boyfriend being arrested.
George Virgin, 65, of Shady Lane, was charged with domestic battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He remained jailed on $42,500 bail Monday afternoon.
According to a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office report, Virgin and his live-in 46-year-old girlfriend began arguing Saturday night. He told deputies the woman grabbed his .357 revolver while he was asleep and began waving it around and threatening to shoot his son if he returned to their home. He said she went on to point the gun at him and he tried to wrestle it away when it discharged accidentally.
Officers interviewed the victim at Florida Hospital Flagler where she was being treated for a large contusion behind her left ear. She told deputies she and Virgin were arguing about several issues, including his son, when he slapped her and pointed his gun at her face. She said she was shot when she attempted to smack the gun away from her face, a report stated.
Deputies indicated the bullet’s trajectory corroborated the victim’s story and discredited Virgin’s statement.
