June meetings
KEY ACTION Kathy Sullivan of the Historical Society informed council that the village was incorporated in 1868, making this the 150th year for incorporation.
DISCUSSION The Historical Society suggested that a celebration be held this year. Council was in agreement and several suggestions were made. A committee will be formed and more information and plans will be made public in the near future.
OTHER ACTION
n Agreed to check into grants for an upgraded taser for the police department which was estimated at $1,500.
n Agreed to contract with the County Health District for mosquito spraying services. The district has received a grant this year to cover the cost of spraying and there will not be an expense to the village.
n Will obtain tree trimming estimates from Lute’s Tree Service for trees at Belden Park and the Street Maintenance Garage.
n Approved to have the 50 hour service maintenance performed on the new Bobcat.

n Reviewed the May Police Department report with 36 complaints and seven traffic tickets.
n Learned that the Police Department will be issuing a reminder to a resident who is residing in a camper, which is prohibited by ordinance.
n Mayor Tom Gardner commended council members for all of the help that was put into the Memorial Day Services and activities. He also thanked Councilman James Thornton for being the guest speaker.
n Heard the update on the new playground equipment which is to be installed at Belden Park. The playground equipment has been received thanks to funding from the Nature Works Grant program. An installation date will be decided soon.
n Learned that Thornton has installed a new flagpole at Belden Park.
UP NEXT Will meet at 7 p.m. on July 10, due to the 4th of July holiday.
