SYCAMORE – A two-vehicle incident on Peace Road and Route 23 on Monday afternoon resulted in a gravel truck flipping onto its side, a DeKalb High School baseball game getting canceled, but no serious injuries, according to Sycamore Fire Chief Pete Polarek.
Sycamore officers and firefighters, as well as DeKalb County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the incident around 1 p.m. in front of the Jewel-Osco, 220 W. Peace Road. A portion of Peace Road was blocked off so crews could clean up the area.
DeKalb High School's baseball team, which was in the bus, was supposed to play in Woodstock at 2 p.m. Interim Head Coach Jeremy Morton said the bus had been at a complete stop and about to turn left onto Route 23 when the gravel truck appeared to take the turn onto Peace Road too hard and flipped over.
"I'm just glad everyone's okay," Morton said.
Morton added the bus sustained minor damage as the gravel dumped over and was towed from the scene.
