BENGALURU: Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) on Sunday announced a re-examination in a fourth semester civil engineering subject after its question paper was partially leaked on Wednesday (June 20), two days before the examination.

A senior professor involved in setting up the question paper for the subject, Structures, has been accused of leaking a question on WhatsApp.

VTU registrar Prof H N Jagannath Reddy told TOI that the re-examination dates will be announced soon.

"The Structures examination in BE (Civil) was held on June 22 afternoon but the same evening it came to our notice that the picture of a part of the question paper scribbled on a white sheet had been circulated on WhatsApp before the examination. We conducted an inquiry and found out that a senior professor who was part the team that set the question paper was involved. A complaint has been filed with police in this regard," he said.

The senior professor from a private college in Belagavi was suspended on Saturday. A mobile phone and other incriminating material have been seized from him, Reddy said.
