Now, board a bus to travel from Delhi to Panchkula, Kalka directly

PANCHKULA: With the decision to improve road connectivity for Panchkula residents, Haryana transport department approved the proposal of bus routes via Zirakpur to Panchkula and Kalka from Delhi.

Panchkula deputy commissioner (DC) Mukul Kumar said that meeting the demands of the residents, the bus timings and routes to Panchkula from Delhi via Zirakpur were approved by the Haryana transport department. “Now residents, would not have to spend extra to come to Panchkula from Chandigarh interstate bus terminus (ISBT) to reach their home,” he said.


A total of 17 bus routes from Panchkula to Delhi were finalised via Zirakpur. The timings for the routes will be 5am, 5.45am, 6.30am, 7.15am, 8am, 8.45am, 9.30am, 10.15am, 11am, 11.45am, 12.30pm, 1.15pm, 2pm, 2.45pm, 3.30pm, 4.15pm and 6.10pm.

Thirteen routes from Delhi to Panchkula via Zirakpur has been finalised. The timings for the bus route will be 11.03am, 12.08pm, 12.48pm, 01.14pm, 3.44pm, 4.14pm, 5.12pm, 6.37pm, 8.24pm, 8.42pm, 9.36pm, 10pm and 12.24am is approved.

Four routes from Kalka to Delhi via Zirakpur were also finalised. The timings for the routes will be 6.30am, 7.15am, 11am and 12.30pm has been prepared. Similarly, bus service from Delhi to Kalka via Zirakpur will run at timings 1.08pm, 1.48pm, 5.18pm and 7.30pm.

Earlier, residents had to struggle to reach their home. The bus used to go to ISBT, Sector 17, Chandigarh, and residents had to pay Rs 50- Rs 300 to reach Panchkula. Despite the fact that the city is called mini-capital of Haryana and have better infrastructure than other districts, it does not have proper bus services directly from the city bus stand, Sector 5.

The bus stops either at Zirakpur or at the ISBT in Chandigarh, while the local passengers have to spend extra money and time to reach Panchkula.

The demand to provide proper bus service to Panchkula via Zirakpur was long pending. Residents as well as local politicians have taken up the issue with the Haryana government many a time but to no avail. Even the chief whip and local legislator Gian Chand Gupta also wrote to the transport commissioner of Haryana on May 10 this year regarding the issue. The MLA wrote that none of the 17 buses running to Delhi from Panchkula came via Zirakpur to Panchkula and the residents were hence forced to pay spend some extra bucks to reach home after alighting at Sector 17 ISBT.

President citizen welfare association (CWA) S K Nayar said, “This is a great decision for the residents of Panchkula. Not only Delhi routes, all the buses should pass through Panchkula and Zirakpur, so that residents can avail the facility.”
