The Rider, Graham and Bowie boys basketball teams finished with winning records over the weekend at the Texas Basketball Championships.

The tournament, played in gyms across the Grapevine area, features teams from across the state who earned their entry based on strong showings at state-qualifying tournaments. The Wichita Falls area had six boys teams and one girls team represented.

Rider finished with a 3-2 mark, losing to Amarillo Palo Duro 44-41 Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Division I bracket (6A/5A). Wichita Falls High School also fell in the quarterfinals to Waxahachie 63-40 and finished with a 2-5 record. North Crowley won the Division I title with a 67-49 decision over Nacogdoches.

In the Division II bracket (4A/3A), Graham and Bowie had the most successful weekends and met up first round of bracket play Saturday night with the Steers claiming a 49-42 win. Graham lost its next game to Palestine 72-44 and finished with a 3-2 record.

Bowie, which seized the TBC Division II title last year over Holliday, won its first two contests Sunday in the consolation bracket before falling to Little River Academy 55-34 in the semifinals. Dallas Carter won the Division II title with a 64-33 victory over Palestine.

The Nocona boys and girls plus the Holliday boys also competed in the TBC, which celebrated its five-year anniversary this week.
