LUDHIANA: The Punjab government has given its nod to the construction of a bridge on a road connecting Tugal-Aitiana villages of the district. The project would come up at a cost of Rs 2.71 crore.
Former IAS officer Dr Amar Singh said chief minister Amarinder Singh has taken a keen interest in this project and asked the chief secretary to oversee the project personally and ensure its completion within six months.
He said he has met the chief minister recently in this regard. He said earlier,
Punjab Infrastructure Development Board was to carry out the project, but to no avail. He said that bridge would benefit people of 10 villages directly and dozen more villages indirectly. He said the government has released an initial grant of Rs 50 lakh.
Punjab Mandi Board executive engineer Amandeep Singh said that the bridge would be 42.8 m high. He said the construction work of bridge has been allotted to a Mohali firm and will be completed within six months.
