A woman, 30, has died after she was shot in a parked car in North York early Sunday, Toronto police say.

Officers found the woman suffering from gunshot wounds in the car

A woman, 30, has died after she was shot in a parked car in North York early Sunday, Toronto police say.

Police were called to the scene on on Replin Road, near Lawrence Avenue West and Allen Road, at 2:00 a.m., according to Staff Sgt. Kim Ledgerwood, of Toronto police's 32 Division.

When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

She was rushed to a trauma centre, according to Sandra McLeod, deputy commander for Toronto Paramedic Services. 

She was pronounced dead in hospital, police said.

Ledgerwood said police do not know what preceded the shooting. No one is in custody and police have not released any suspect information.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. 

Police have taped off the scene as officers gather evidence.
