KISSIMMEE — Daniel Sweet hit a run-scoring double in the sixth inning, leading the Daytona Tortugas to a 5-4 win over the Florida Fire Frogs on Saturday.
Joel Kuhnel got Braxton Davidson to fly out with a runner on first to end the game for his 10th save of the season.
The double by Sweet, part of a three-run inning, gave the Tortugas a 3-2 lead before Morgan Lofstrom hit a two-run double later in the inning. The Tortugas matched their season high with four doubles, which led to all five runs.
In the bottom of the eighth, Florida scored on a triple by Ray-Patrick Didder that brought home Davidson. In the following at-bat, Jordan Rodgers hit an RBI single, scoring Didder to cut the Daytona lead to 5-4.
Daytona left-hander Scott Moss (7-2) picked up the win after allowing two runs — one earned — on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings. He tied the Florida State League lead with his seventh victory. Opposing starter Jeremy Walker (2-7) took the loss after allowing five runs and eight hits while striking out six over six innings.
Didder tripled and singled twice, scoring two runs for the Fire Frogs.
The Tortugas will go for the series victory at 11 a.m. Sunday with RHP Tommy Bergjans (0-0, 3.72 ERA) on the mound against LHP Tucker Davidson (4-5, 4.68 ERA).
