Mumbai: 2 dead, four injured after tree falls on them

MUMBAI: Two elderly men were killed while four others sustained injuries after a tree fell on them at MG road near Metro Cinema at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai. The incident took place on Sunday evening and all the injured were rushed to GT hospital. Of the four injured in the incident, two persons have been shifted to ICU while the other three have sustained minor injuries, said BMC officials.
According to information provided by GT Hospital, six people were rushed to the hospital with varying injuries. The deceased have been identified as Barsingh and Rajendra Kumar.

Barsingh's family, including his son, was present nearby when the senior citizen entered the restroom on which the tree fell.

The doctor-on-duty said that two more people were shifted to the ICU with head injuries and multiple fractures. Of them one is an unidentified 60—year-old man who has suffered temporal (head) and chest fractures.

Another injured Santosh Singh (28) has been shifted to the ICU with injuries to his head and leg. A 55-year-old vendor too was among those who sustained injuries due to the tree fall. R

amvilas Soni has suffered a fracture on his left leg. He is stable, doctors said. Salimuddin Shaikh, who too was with his family, escaped with minor injuries. Doctors however said he came to hospital but there were no visible injuries. “He did not require any treatment,” the doctors said.
