Cocaine and marijuana in fake Fifa World Cup trophies seized by police in Argentina.
Some Argentines are taking advantage of Fifa World Cup fervour.
The security minister of Buenos Aires province said Friday (NZT Saturday) that police had broken up an organisation trafficking marijuana and cocaine inside fake Fifa World Cup trophies.
The so-called "Narcos de la Copa" took advantage of the global merchandising boom generated by the football tournament to move the drug without raising suspicions.
Cocaine and cannabis was found inside imitation Fifa World Cup trophies in Argentina.
"These merchants of death have endless ingenuity, but don't be fooled. They shouldn't be admired. On the contrary... they are now in jail," minister Cristian Ritondo said, according to a statement.
Officials said 20 kilograms of marijuana, 10kg of cocaine, 1800 doses of crack-cocaine known as "paco," and 400,000 Argentine pesos (NZ$21,000) were seized.
Four men and two women were arrested in the operation.
