DAYTONA BEACH — An 11-year-old boy was hospitalized Saturday night after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Clyde Morris Boulevard, authorities said.
He was listed in "critical and unstable condition" Sunday, according to police.
Daytona Beach police officers responded shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday near the corner of Clyde Morris and Mason Avenue.
Lyda Longa, a police spokeswoman, said the boy, Arion Walker, was accompanied by two other juveniles and was walking west on Mason and crossing Clyde Morris on the crosswalk.
While he was walking across the street, a motorist traveling south on Clyde Morris struck him with his vehicle, Longa said.
Three witnesses told police that the motorist, identified as Connor Zessin, 27, had the right of way.
Walker remains at Halifax Health Medical Center, where he had undergone emergency surgery, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation, but criminal charges are not expected, Longa said.
