LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will lead cabinet ministers, MLAs and district level officers in cleaning
Gomti river from Gau Ghat till 1090 crossing along with 7,000 people on Sunday morning.
The district administration has given orders to irrigation department and Gomti pollution control unit to control the sewage from directly flowing in the river and Kukrail nullah.
District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that the cleaning drive will start from Gau Ghat at 6.30am. CM Yogi will reach Jhulelal Park at 8am.
Cabinet ministers, mayor, MLAs and corporators will also take part in the cleaning drive. District officers and 7,000 volunteers will be deployed at every 10 metres from Gau Ghat to the barrage under 1090 crossing. Medical vans equipped with anti-venom injections, anti-septic creams and sprays, tetanus injections and first-aid gear will be deployed at every 50 metres. The participants will be provided safety gear. Special machines will be given to participants along with helpers to cut water hyacinth. Boatmen and divers will also be deployed at regular intervals along with members of civil defence.
The section from Gau Ghat to the barrage under 1090 has been divided into four zones of Lucknow municipal corporation, in which eight zonal officers will ensure the depth and complete under water cleanliness of river.
