CHENNAI: Tainted Muthiah Stapathy has been replaced by another Stapathy K Dakshinamoorthy in the expert committee constituted by the Madras High Court to go into the renovation and repair works at all temples in the State.

Taking into consideration the criminal proceedings pending against Muthiah, a division bench of Justices M Sathyanarayanan and G K Ilanthiraiyan cleared the name of Dakshinamoorthy, on June 22 last.

Dakshinamoorhty is a BSc graduate in temple architecture from Madras University and an MA (Culture, Religion and Philosophy) from Annamalai University and currently pursuing Doctorate in the Tamil University in Thanjavur.

He has also been honoured with many awards and done research  works. To his credit, he has also rendered his services for important religious works in India and abroad. Hence, Dakshinamoorthy is the ideal person to replace Muthiah, the bench said and asked him to take charge of the traditional Stapathi of the expert committee.
