Amateur teams converged Saturday on the sands of New Smyrna Beach at the Flagler Avenue approach for the Sand Art Festival.
The teams of families, friends, co-workers and community groups created sand sculptures in 10-foot-by-10-foot plots of cordoned beach.
Prizes were awarded for individual adult, child and team categories, with judging by both professionals and local celebrity judges.
