MUMBAI: Several parts of the city and neighboring areas like Thane has been witnessing some heavy spells of rain since Sunday morning.
Intermittent rains were witnessed in parts of
Malad,
Powai, Mulund along with some heavy spells.
Heavy rains have been recorded in South Mumbai over last 24 hours as the
India Meteorological Department (IMD)
Colaba observatory recorded 151 mm of rainfall from 8.30 am-8.30 pm. According to IMD classification anything between 115.6mm- 204.4mm falls into very heavy rain fall category.
Meanwhile the IMD Santa Cruz observatory recorded moderate rains of 31.7 mm.
The weather bureau has forecasted some isolated heavy rains in Mumbai city and suburbs. The intensity of rains are expected to increase in the coming week as well owing to the strengthening of the westerly winds.
