An investigation is underway after a 34-year-old man was killed and two people were sent to hospital following a crash north of Millarville, Alta., the RCMP said in a news release on Saturday.
Police said officers were called to the two-vehicle crash on Highway 22 at about 7:40 a.m. It happened south of Plummers Road. The man who was killed was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS said he was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Four people were in the other vehicle, which EMS said was a pickup truck. Two 12-year-old boys were taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary by ground ambulance. EMS said they were listed in serious but stable condition and that their injuries were non-life-threatening. The two other people in the truck — a man who was driving and a teenage boy — did not require hospital transport.
The RCMP and EMS did not say what type of vehicle the man who was killed was driving.
An RCMP collision analyst was called to the scene to help with the investigation and to determine what led to the crash.
Millarville is located about 55 kilometres southwest of Calgary.
