CHENNAI: The HC has directed the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi to file an affidavit with regard to the steps taken for appointing a regular MD to the REPCO Bank and the time required to do so.

A division bench of Justices K K Sasidharan and Justice R Subramaniyan gave the direction, while passing interim orders on an appeal from the All India Repatriates Welfare Association (Burma, Sri Lanka and Vietnam) in Perambur on Friday.

The appeal challenged the order, dated February 5, 2016, of a single judge, who dismissed the writ petition of the association praying for a directive to the Centre to make the appointment. The matter will come up again for hearing on July 16.
