Union I&B secretary calls upon CM Rawat

Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare held a courtesy meeting with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat on Saturday. Chief Minister said that Doordarshan and Akashvani have credibility and can play an important role in disseminating information about schemes of public welfare to the masses. He called for making Dehradun Doordarshan centre more effective and stressed upon involving Krishi Vigayn kendras, Universities and Self-Help groups doing good social works with community radio. Chief Minister said that better results could be achieved if the central government and state government departments work in cooperation. He said that good work being done in the society should be highlighted and we should go forward in this direction with a positive attitude.

Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare informed the Chief Minister that Doordarshan Centre ,Dehradun will be uplinked with satellite soon to ensure 24 hours transmission. He said that local programmes will be given preference in the centre and programmes associated with folk culture of the state will be given priority. He said that besides Doordarshan, Akashvani and Press Information Bureau have been asked to work in coordination.

He said that Doodarshan has been asked to give priority to works done in MSME, tourism, agriculture, horticulture and other fields and to keep experts, ministers, legislators on its’ panel. He called for inclusion of new ideas and the need to learn from others.

On the occasion, Uttarakhand Secretary Finance Amit Negi, PIB, ADG Narender Kaushal, News Editor Doordarshan Raghwesh Pandey and assistant director Shiv Kumar Goel were present.
