Palanpur: Three unidentified gunman opened fire at a 25-year-old factory owner in an industrial estate located at Bhopanagar in Deesa, Banaskantha, on Saturday.
Factory owner Sunil Vinodchandra Shah suffered injuries on his leg and was taken to Palanpur civil hospital and then shifted to Ahmedabad, police inspector of Deesa D K Brahmbhatt said.
The incidence took place when Shah was preparing to go home in his car after downing shutters of the factory where steel utensils are manufactured. Three unidentified man walked up to Shah and asked if his name was Sunil. When Shah answered in affirmative, one of the men shot Shah in the leg and they all fled.
Police suspect personal rivalry could be the reason behind the attack as the assailant shot Shah in the leg and did not make any robbery attempt.
The police have registered a case of attempt to murder against the unidentified trio. They have procured the closed circuit television footage in which the accused is visible.
Police said it seems the assailant’s motive was to scare the victim.
