Collector N. Satyanarayana has asked government institutions, rice-millers, dealers of fuel and gas stations to participate in the execution of the Haritha Haram by planting saplings in the premises of their outlets.
Good response
At a meeting at Janahith here on Saturday, he said, with the establishment of Rasi Vanam at the Government Degree College and Maltummeda and a park-like space at the integrated Collectorate, there was overwhelming response from the people. Some valuable saplings from Kadem area of Adilabad were brought to be planted in the district, he said.
Under the WALTA Act-2005, it is mandatory for each household to plant five saplings in a premises of 300 square yards, he said and appealed to the people to avail the plants being raised at 133 nurseries across the district.
To protect plants, watering must be done every day at a specified time, he added.
Joint Collector S. Sathaiah said in the 18 parboiled mills at the rate of 3,000, a total of 5,400 saplings must be planted.
Effective plantation
In the 98 raw rice mills 4,900 plants, in 62 petrol bunks 6,200 plants, and MLS points plants at the rate of 200 should be planted.. He said Banswada, Gandhari, Madnoor and Jukkal mandals turned green with the effective implementation of the Haritha Haram.
