Queanbeyan score first win of Netball ACT State League season
Queanbeyan caused an upset in round seven of the State League netball competition on Friday, shocking defending premier Tuggeranong in a 50-41 win.
Shooting duo Farrah Marolt and Olivia Clarke dominated for Queanbeyan to give their side a lead as the underdogs shot out to a 12-goal lead at half-time.
Tuggeranong closed the gap after the break, but Queanbeyan held on for a win that throws the competition wide open this year.
In other games, Canberra beat Belconnen 71-42 despite missing some key players, and Arawang toppled South Canberra 68-46.
and Queanbeyan retained their momentum throughout the last quarter to walk away with their first win of the season.
Arawang coach Kim Symons said: "I am happy with the team’s performance tonight. Leigh Kalsbeek
had a great game, and we brought on Renee Pickering from our division two team, and she played one of her
best games."
