Fury Road
Frank Robson, if another driver gets angry at me on the road [June 9], I just blow them a kiss. Seems to defuse the situation immediately. JEN GLADSTONES, HEIDELBERG, VIC
Stand by Me
I'd just graduated from high school. Living south of Los Angeles and being an ardent admirer of Bobby Kennedy [June 9], I drove to the Ambassador Hotel hoping to celebrate his California primary victory. Ted Kennedy's eulogy aptly describes his older brother and includes the line, "Some men see things as they are and say, 'Why?' I dream things that never were and say, 'Why not?' " The world would be a much better place had this man lived. THOMAS CROMWELL, SAFETY BEACH, VIC
Holding Your Nerve
I farewelled my beautiful friend recently. Two years ago she celebrated her 60th birthday, looking fabulous! Only 18 months ago she told me she was having trouble picking up a glass of wine. My response – "I'll get you a straw" – had us both laughing, not realising what was ahead. As Professor Dominic Rowe said in your story on motor neurone disease [May 26], "F…ing bastard of a disease." He was spot on. What my friend went through was truly cruel and devastating. CATHY ROBINSON, TEMPE, NSW

T: @SONIA_CURLL Loved this article ["Deep Focus", on new NGA director Nick Mitzevich, June 9]. Excited for the future of the @NatGalleryAus.
F: SUE DELLIT Loved this ["Fury Road", June 9]. I remember once giving a driver who was "sound asleep" at the lights a little toot. Taking off down the road, we could see him furiously winding down the window; out punched the hairy forearm and seriously turgid, erect middle finger. However, in the heat of the moment he also knocked off his wind visor.
F: JENN TRANTER Road rage is also rife in little old Adelaide. Never encountered it driving through Greece or the UK last year.
F: DAVID LAZARUS I agree that there's a real problem in Australia. The level of tension and aggression is so high. I left a couple of years ago knowing this. Here in Peru, the situation is so different. While the driving is so much worse in many ways, everyone turns the other cheek.
T: @BLUEBELLFAERY This is great! ["Dicey Topics" with Roxane Gay, June 9]. I just want to keep reading your conversation … felt very natural and fun.
