150 fall ill after consuming food at community programme in West Bengal

The victims are suspected to have fallen ill after food poisoning. Most of the people started vomiting after consuming the food prepared at the programme.

KOLKATA: Some 150 people have fallen ill after consuming food at a community programme in Kalugach village in Sujali Gram Panchayat in Islampur of Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal on Saturday.

The victims are suspected to have fallen ill after food poisoning. Most of the people started vomiting after consuming the food prepared at the programme. The victims have been admitted to Islampur sub-divisional hospital. While most have recovered, condition of some of the victims is still critical. Police have initiated a probe into the incident.
