Pressure tactics of government, allege villagers

The police registered cases against five persons from Bailampur village in Mulugu mandal for obstructing the Kondapochamam Reservoir work. Cases were registered against Mallampally Chandram, Malllampally Swamy, Singam Kanakaiah, Gundla Karunakar and Singam Raju. Detailing the case in Crime Number 12/2018 under section 353.504 read with 34 IPC, Mulugu Sub Inspector of Police asked the accused to present before him at Mulugu police station within three days and produce sufficient sureties for further investigation. The orders were issued on June 20.

All the five accused in the case presented themselves before the SI in police station on Friday. The case was filed in February by an irrigation engineer Sravan Kumar Reddy alleging the accused persons had obstructed the movement of vehicles on the reservoir work duty. “We have visited the police station and presented ourselves before the officials concerned. We have asked the police to call the complainant and let him recognise us, whom he alleged had stopped the vehicles. Then only we will sign the papers,” M. Chandram, one of the accused told The Hindu. Stating that he and his brother Swamy were made accused in the case, he wondered how the family will face the stress if two males taking the responsibility go to police station. “This is nothing but pressure tactics being mounted by the government to keep the other farmers at bay and subtly warning them not to participate in the agitations seeking fulfillment of the promises made by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao”.
