AHMEDABAD: With overcast sky, the citizens are now eagerly awaiting the first spell of rains. According to the Met department officials, the rains might arrive on June 25 with favourable weather conditions prevailing over the region.
Some parts of Godhra and Dahod reported drizzles on Friday night.
Jayanta Sarkar, regional director,
India Meteorological Department (IMD), said that the system is forming both from
Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal which can bring showers to Gujarat. "Parts of South
Gujarat and Saurashtra will get rains on June 25 and the
monsoon would gradually cover other parts of the state. Sporadic rain can also be experienced on June 24," he said.
While Friday remained overall dry, places such as Ahmedabad, Deesa, Gandhinagar, Vallabh Vidyanagar and Rajkot reported temperature above 40 degrees celsius. Surendranagar was the hottest with 41.5 degrees. According to IMD website, parts of the state can experience rain for next five days. Satellite images showed clouds covering parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Mahrashtra with some regions of Rajasthan.
