Dharwad: The state government, which is mulling over naming the Haj Bhavan after
Tipu Sultan should instead name it after former President of India A P J Abdul Kalam, said Dharwad MP
Pralhad Joshi here on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters here, he said the Siddaramaiah government had created a controversy by celebrating Tipu’s birth anniversary and the move had faced stiff resistance and had led to violence and law and order problems.
“Minister
Zameer Ahmed, who has proposed naming Haj Bhavan after Tipu Sultan is stirring a hornet’s nest again and putting chief minister Kumarswamy in a soup,” he said.
Joshi urged
Kumaraswamy not to accept Zameer Ahmed’s proposal and instead name the Bhavan after Kalam to avoid any controversy. BJP will condemn the government if it names Haj Bhavan after Tipu , he added.
