EC registers Kamal Haasan's party

New Delhi: Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), floated by actor Kamal Haasan, has been registered as a political party by the Election Commission and it would receive the registration documents early next week. The documents filed by Haasan have been processed and the registration granted, sources said adding “The party will get the relevant documents early next week. The formal letter was sent on Friday.” Haasan had in February launched his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam (people justice centre) in the presence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and others.

Rlys sets Oct 2 deadline for toilet upgradation

New Delhi: The Railways has set a deadline of October 2, when the Centre plans to launch year-long celebrations to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, for the upgradation of toilets at all stations in the country, according to a letter written by Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani to all the zones.
