Guv seeks cooperation from all J&K ‘stakeholders’

Two days after the imposition of Central rule in Jammu & Kashmir, Governor NN Vohra on Friday sought cooperation from all stakeholders for the restoration of peace and tranquility to enable speeding up of developmental activities.

The Governor held a meeting with representatives of political parties of the State at Raj Bhawan and asked them to join hands in bringing the State out of the present morass. He urged them to motivate the youth to shun the path of violence and concentrate on their education and future careers.

The Governor held wide ranging discussions on issues related to internal security, law and order, development, educational problems, the ensuing Shri Amarnath Yatra, besides the political scenario which has emerged after the imposition of Governor’s Rule.

Former Chief Minister and Vice President National Conference Omar Abdullah, Congress state president Gulam Ahmad Mir, BJP leader Sat Sharma, PDP leader Dilawar Mir, panther’s Party chairman Harsh Dev Singh and former minister Ghulam Hassan Mir were among prominent leaders who attended the meeting and exchanged ideas on the present situation in the state.

An official spokesman said that the leaders put forth their view points for improving the law and order situation on the ground and suggested measures in this regard. They unanimously expressed their support to the Governor for restoring lasting peace in the State by taking into confidence all sections of the society. They emphasized the need for the administration to work in a neutral, transparent and accountable manner, completion of important pending development projects in the different regions of the State.

Advisors to Governor, Bharat Bhushan Vyas and K Vijay Kumar, Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam, Principal Secretary to Governor, Umang Narula and Principal Secretary Planning & Development, Rohit Kansal were also present in the meeting.Earlier, former chief minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti called upon Vohra and conveyed her concern over the protection of the state’s special status and pursuance of Rasana rape and murder case of 8-year girl, with all seriousness and professionalism. She also requested the Governor that fear, panic, and harassment should be avoided and the rights of the peaceful citizens of the state are protected.
