Four persons of a family were killed when the car in which they were travelling hit a stranded lorry at Katnapalli village of Sultanabad mandal in the wee hours of Friday.
Sultanabad Inspector A. Ramulu said the victims, hailing from Manthani mandal headquarters, were returning from Hyderabad in their car. It was running at a high speed.
It lost control and hit the stranded lorry on the Rajiv Rahadhari, killing all the four persons on the spot. The car was mangled and police had a tough time retrieving the bodies.
The victims were identified as Akula Arun Kumar (37), private school principal, his wife Sowmya (32), son Akhilesh (9) and daughter Shanvi (6). The police shifted the bodies to Peddapalli hospital for postmortem and registered a case.
Peddapalli Deputy Commissioner of Police T. Sudarshan Goud visited the spot.

One person was killed and three others received minor injuries in a road accident that took place at Sadashivapet late on Thursday night.
According to Circle Inspector Surender Reddy, a private bus lost control and rammed a petrol pump, resulting in the accident.
Anand, (30), the cleaner of the bus, was seriously injured and was shifted to Sangareddy government hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. Sadashivapet police registered and are investigating.
