Undertrial injured in attack by some inmates in Ludhiana jail

An was injured after he was allegedly attacked by some inmates at the central jail, police said today.

Jagjit Singh, lodged in the jail in connection with the Balachaur sacrilege incident, was allegedly attacked by five prisoners, including two gangsters, who barged into his barrack last night, they said.

He was beaten up by an iron pipe by the inmates, police said, adding that Singh's leg was broken and he also received several injuries.

Singh was admitted to a local civil hospital under security cover where his treatment was underway. His condition was stated to be stable.
