An evening collision at Highway 100 and 31st St. closed westbound traffic for over an hour and sent three people to area hospitals.
Just before 6 p.m., responders reported to a collision between two vehicles that had taken place in the intersection, according to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
James Louis Mochal, 38 of Cedar Rapids, was driving a Prius and was taken to St. Luke’s hospital with serious injuries. Marcia Camille Brandt, 71 of Anamosa, was driving an Avalanche with a passenger, Joan Anne Donovan, 67 of Anamosa. Brandt and Donovan were taken to St. Luke’s hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.
It is believed that all three were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, according to the release.
The Marion Police Department, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Fire Department and Area Ambulance responded.
Westbound traffic at Highway 100 and 31st street has reopened, and the crash remains under investigation.
