GUWAHATI/IMPHAL: Three more persons died due to floods in two districts of Barak Valley in Assam, taking the death toll in the first wave of floods to 24 this year, even as the overall situation showed signs of improvement on Friday. One person died in Nilambazar area of
Karimganj while two others in Cachar - at Sadar and Katigorah on Friday.
Out of the 24 that lost their lives in the floods, 21 have died due to drowning while
landslides triggered by rain have claims three more lives. With Dhemaji now inundated, five districts of Assam have been affected in the first wave of floods so far. Other affected districts include Cachar, Hailakandi, Karimganj and Hojai. Karimganj continues to be the worst hit district, with 1,62,010 people affected.
