Latvian tourist murder victim's partner unhappy with probe

The partner of a Latvian woman who was raped and murdered in last month said on Saturday that he was unhappy with the police investigation of the case and was awaiting the outcome of his petition where he has sought a probe.

"The tourism department hijacked the memorial service held here last month and did not allow us to take part in it fully. The police is also appearing to be making false accusations," told the media reported.

Although the police have arrested two people in connection to the case, on Friday approached the High Court seeking a probe.

The 33-year-old victim, her partner Andrew and sister had arrived in for ayurvedic treatment at a facility on Thiruvananthapuram's outskirts when she went missing on March 14.

On April 20, her highly decomposed body was found in a marshy area near the famed Kovalam tourist destination. An autopsy pointed to strangulation.
