Ayyanna, MLAs express ire over delay in electricity works

Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa has directed the officials to undertake immediate steps to alleviate the problems of the people constituency-wise.

Mr. Rajappa, who is also district in charge Minister, reviewed the problems in the district at a meeting at the Collectorate on Saturday. Minister for Roads and Buildings Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, MPs and MLAs participated in the meeting and elaborately discussed the problems of the people.

The Ministers questioned the officials on the delay in solving the problems and asked them to lay special attention to provision of drinking water, construction of roads, houses, sanction of pensions and better medical services. During the discussion on unauthorised power cuts in the district, Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu and MLAs expressed their ire at the electricity officials for

the delays in various undertaking works. The Superintending Engineers of AP Transco failed to give satisfactory replies in this regard.

Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu sought early sanction of pensions to eligible beneficiaries in his constituency.

Some MLA s brought to the notice of the Mr. Chinarajappa that the issue of certificates to physically challenged persons, which used to be done frequently through camps, has been dispensed with and now the applications had to be filed through ‘Mee Seva’. The screening test dates for the applicants was being finalised only six months after the filing of applications and this was causing problems to the physically challenged persons.

KGH Medical Officer Dr. Sastry attributed the delays in the issue of certificates to the non-implementation of the software in a full-fledged manner.

Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao suggested that VUDA should take development activities in all the areas under its jurisdiction. VUDA VC P. Basant Kumar said 85 per cent of the revenue received from a particular area was being spent on that area.

MP K. Haribabu alleged that though the Centre had allocated ₹ 600 crore for construction of the Anakapalle-Anandapur National Highway there was no progress on the project.

Joint Collector G. Srijana said 41 awards, pertaining to land acquisition, were passed so far and about ₹180 crore was deposited.
