BENGALURU:Ganesh H K and Sahana Ganesh, the couple, did not talk much with neighbours; neither did they allow their kids to play with other children in the building. Neighbours feel it may have been because of a superiority complex they nurtured because of their once-rich status.

Jayaram (name changed), one of Ganesh’s nieghbours, told The New Indian Express, “Ganesh’s father Krishnamurthy was a well-known musician and was running a music school at the premise, but after his death Ganesh had closed the school. Ganesh had learnt Violin from his father but later he got busy in real estate business and developed land on Kanakapura Road and sold it to some NRIs. I was not aware of the incident till the police arrived at 9pm (on Thursday night). It is really shocking to think of this incident in this peaceful residential area. I never thought such a heinous crime would occur in my neighbourhood, and why he decided to kill the innocent kids!”

He added: “Sahana’s mother, who is suffering from cancer, used to stay with Ganesh’s family and she was a regular visitor. I used to see the kids only when they were going to the school. We were told that that Sahana was stabbed to death. But when we read it in the newspaper, we learnt she was shot dead.”

Krishnamurthy, a retired employee and a neighbour of Ganesh said, “Ganesh, a violin artiste, believed that a 20-year-old Esteem car he owned was lucky for him and had parked it in front of his house instead of selling it even after buying a couple of SUVs. He was a nice person and had no issues with any neighbours as he was rarely coming out from his residence. We are all puzzled why he took this extreme step.”

‘Clueless why my daughter was killed’

The post mortem of Sahana was conducted at KIMS Hospital on Friday evening. However, her family members are yet to collect her body, as some of their relatives have to arrive from the USA. A family member said that there are some close relatives in the US and they are expected to arrive by Saturday afternoon. “We will collect the body on Saturday and conduct the last rites by evening once they arrive in the city,” he said. Meanwhile, Sahana’s grieving father Nagaraj Shankar, a resident of JP Nagar, said that he was clueless why his daughter was killed by her husband. Ganesh’s friend, who did not wish to be named, said, “Even we learnt of the incident only on Friday morning after watching it on TV. It is shocking that Ganesh has committed such and act. He never shared anything related to his family and he never told me that he had huge debts.”
